Dr. Karmiris is a certified member (Fellow) of European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (FEBOPRAS), a title awarded to him after successful examinations. At the same time, he is a regular member of the Hellenic Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (HESPRAS), the European Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (ESPRAS) as well as an active member of the Athens Medical Association (ISA) and the British Medical Council (GMC).
Dr. Nikos Karmiris was born and raised in Athens. He graduated with “Excellent” from the 2nd General High School of Agia Paraskevi and after Panhellenic Examinations, he was admitted to the Medical Department of the Military School of Officers (SSAS).
Successfully completing his education, he graduated from the Military School and the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He then attended the annual training program of the “School of Health Application” and after graduation, he served as a Head Doctor in the 2nd Army Airborne Helicopter Battalion for two years. As part of his education, he graduated from the School of Aviation Medicine as well as the School of Diving Medicine and Scuba Diving.
Following successful examinations, he started the specialty of Plastic, Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgery as a specialist in the 2nd General Surgery Clinic of the 417 Army Share Fund Hospital.
He continued his specialization in Plastic Surgery for four years in the United Kingdom, in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery departments of the Northern General Hospital (University Hospital of Sheffield), the Odstock Center (Salisbury District Hospital) and the Derriford Hospital (Plymouth University Hospital).
In 2013 he became a Consultant following exams, served as Director of the Surgical Department in the Special Operations Directorate of the Special Forces and then returned to the 401 GSNA where he was appointed as a Consultant of Plastic, Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgery.
In 2017, he was appointed after examinations for a Fellowship in Microsurgery and Breast Reconstruction after Mastectomy at the Odstock Center (Oxford Deanery) for one year. During his stay in the United Kingdom, he attended numerous Aesthetic Surgery seminars and was a Visiting Fellow of Aesthetic Surgery, following and assisting Mr. Michael Cadier at the private clinics of Harbor Hospital (Poole), Sarum Road Hospital (Winchester) and Spire Southampton Hospital (Southampton).
Since 2018, he remains Consultant at 401 General Army Hospital and he is also a scientific associate at the “Henry Dunant” private Hospital as well as at “Metropolitan General” and “Mediterraneo” private clinics.

His scientific work includes the publication of medical articles in prestigious international medical journals and his participation in international and panhellenic Conferences with a number of scientific papers. In addition, since 2014, he has participated as an instructor in hands-on Seminars (Basic & Advanced Skills of Microsurgery), in educational hands-on courses for final year medical students, while he was also in charge of the training program for Plastic Surgery registrars of 401 GSNA for 3 years.
Research and experimental studies in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery are of paramount importance to Dr. Karmiris and in this context, he is a PhD candidate at the Medical School of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens in collaboration with the 2nd Department of Surgery at Aretaieio Hospital.
