What is PAL Liposuction?
PAL (Power Assisted Liposuction) is a modern and completely safe technique for removing excess fat.
It has been documented in international medical literature for over a decade, with clear evidence supporting both its safety and effectiveness.
The difference between PAL and traditional liposuction lies in the use of a specialized device that produces mechanical vibration of the liposuction cannula.
This makes the procedure faster and more effective. With PAL, the surgeon applies less physical force on the treated areas, resulting in fewer bruises and less swelling, while recovery is typically quicker.
This procedure can be applied to any problem area such as the abdomen, waist, arms, knees, thighs, or ankles, achieving a slimmer, more symmetrical, and sculpted body.

Who Is PAL Liposuction For?
PAL liposuction, like any liposuction procedure, is not a weight-loss method.
It is intended for individuals in good physical health whose body weight may slightly exceed the normal range (by no more than 30%), but who, despite diet and exercise, are unable to eliminate localized fat in specific areas.
Candidates should not have serious health issues that would prevent them from undergoing elective cosmetic surgery.
Advantages of PAL Liposuction
PAL liposuction offers immediate, visible results and presents a number of significant advantages, including:
- Shorter duration (reduced anesthesia time)
- Faster recovery
- Quick return to daily activities
- Minimal postoperative pain
- Even, homogeneous fat removal
- Very small scars
- Reduced swelling and bruising after surgery
- High precision
- Permanent results, provided patients maintain stable dietary habits

How Is the Procedure Performed?
In PAL liposuction, a special device is used to move the cannula back and forth by a few millimeters at up to 4,200 vibrations per minute.
This allows the surgeon to perform highly precise movements with less physical effort, achieving a superior aesthetic outcome.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia or sedation, depending on the number and size of the areas to be treated.
Small incisions of about 5 mm are made, usually hidden within natural skin folds, and become almost invisible after 6–12 months.
First, a diluted solution containing a local anesthetic and vasoconstrictor is injected to reduce bleeding and postoperative pain.
The vibrating cannula then breaks down fat cells and fibrous tissue more easily, while vacuum suction removes the fat.
Finally, the small incisions are closed with absorbable sutures.]
What Happens During the Consultation?
Your consultation with Dr. Karmiris consists of two parts:
First part – discussion with the surgeon:
- Your concerns regarding your appearance
- Whether PAL liposuction is the right treatment for you
- Your complete medical history (medications, allergies, previous surgeries)
- Smoking habits, if applicable
Second part – clinical evaluation:
- Assessment of your overall health and risk factors
- Physical examination and measurements of problem areas
- Evaluation of skin quality
- Preoperative photographs
- Explanation of expected results, possible risks, and complications
- Information on anesthesia use
- Answers to any questions you may have regarding the procedure
After the Surgery
Dr. Karmiris will provide you with detailed, personalized instructions regarding postoperative care, both before and after the procedure.
Key recovery information includes:
- Patients usually return home the same day.
- Dressings or bandages are applied to the incisions but are reduced shortly thereafter. No drains are required in PAL liposuction.
- For the first few weeks, you will need to wear a compression garment, corset, or band depending on the treated area.
This minimizes swelling and helps restore skin elasticity more quickly.
You will also receive guidance on wound care, prescribed medications, activity limitations, and follow-up appointments.
Risks and Safety Information
PAL liposuction is generally a safe and effective technique with excellent results.
However, as with any surgery, there are potential risks and complications that patients should be aware of.
Possible complications include:
- Bleeding, hematoma, or bruising
- Wound infection
- Fat necrosis
- Poor healing of incisions
- Asymmetry or irregular body contour
- Temporary numbness in the treated area
Dr. Karmiris will explain all potential risks and answer any questions during your consultation.
Combination With Other Procedures
Like other liposuction methods, PAL liposuction can be combined with liposculpture.
In liposculpture, fat removed during liposuction can be reinjected into other areas of the face or body, such as the abdominal muscles or arms, to enhance contour.
PAL liposuction can also be combined with abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), arm lift, thigh lift, or buttock augmentation.
Cost of PAL Liposuction
The cost of PAL liposuction cannot be precisely predetermined, as it depends on factors such as the number of areas treated.
Costs vary from patient to patient.
